Sawyer County Land and Water Conservation has partnered with the Sawyer County Lakes Forum to recognize shoreline property owners who exemplify good stewardship.
The Conservation Star Home Project provides stewardship education and recognitioni for lakeshore homes that represent the best management practices and standards that ensure the protectionof water quality and habitats. The Conservation Star Home Project will provide shoreline homeowners an opportunity to evaluate their unique situation and learn if they are a Star already or perhaps need to make some changes to be a Star.
Upon request, Conservation Star Home Ambassadors will make visits to meet with shoreline homeowners to assess theior existing conservation measures for protecting water quality and habitats. Ambassadors will review a checklist of key conservation practices to determine whether the home meets the conservation standards established for the project.
Ambassadors will address individual conservation questions and concerns of homeowners by providing educational materials or recommending a visit from the Land and Water Conservation staff.
